Maple Valley Creative Arts Center is proud to partner with Voice in the Valley Music Studio to offer a Children's Choir Program! Directed by Dr. Janene Nelson, this fun-filled choir program is specifically designed for boys and girls ages 7-13. This 10-week program will introduce children to the rewarding art of ensemble singing through applicable warm-ups, music theory exercises, part-singing, and more! Dr. Nelson carefully selects repertoire covering a broad spectrum of musical genres and styles sure to engage and inspire every student! Voices in the Valley Children’s Choir is a safe, positive, and interactive program that will nurture your child’s passion for singing all while cultivating self-confidence and musicianship skills. No previous experience or audition required! This program culminates with a public performance for the entire family to enjoy!
*Classes run Saturday mornings, September 23rd-November 18th from 10-11am. More about Dr. Janene Nelson:
Dr. Jan Nelson is a versatile performer and educator who has been recognized for her mellow voice and gorgeously sung performances. Her professional engagements range from opera and oratorio to early music, contemporary premieres, and musical theatre. Jan earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Oregon. She holds a Level 3 certificate in the Lovetri Method Somatic Voicework, a body-based method of functional vocal training. Jan currently serves as Adjunct Voice Faculty at Seattle Pacific University. She is excited to conduct “Voices in the Valley Children's Choir” as well as teach private voice lessons with Voice in the Valley Music Studio! (*MUST HAVE 5 or MORE STUDENTS ENROLLED*)
